UNPAVED ROADS

Unpaved roads—such as industrial and private access roads, haul roads for quarries, mines and forestry operations, temporary construction site roads, low volume rural roads and detours—derive all structural support from their aggregate base. When the aggregate base and subgrade soil intermix, it reduces the effective aggregate thickness, and thus the load-bearing capacity of the road structure.
