SUBSURFACE DRAINS

Built with a permeable conduit such as corrugated plastic, geotextile fabric, tubing, tile, pipe or any combination thereof installed beneath the ground surface to collect and/or convey drainage water to an outlet, subsurface drains are essential to prevent the harmful or destructive force of water that can cause infrastructure failure. Edge-of-pavement drains, interceptor drains, subsurface structure drains and blanket drains are all examples.

TYPAR® Geotextiles make subsurface drains simple to design and inexpensive to construct. The geotextile filters water flowing to the drain and minimizes soil particles from passing, reducing the chance of system clogging. With a wide variety of opening sizes, the appropriate grade can be selected depending on the soil particle size in critical applications.

TYPAR® Geocells are a cellular confinement system that provides a stable, strong and durable barrier to earth and water movement and the erosion and damage they can cause.
